Loughborough and District Group of the Ramblers' Association

We are a local group of the Leicestershire and Rutland Area of the Ramblers' Association in the town of Loughborough and surrounding area, founded in 1988. We meet on most Sundays outside the Technology Centre of Loughborough College off Epinal Way (SK525192) to share transport to the walk. We have occasional evening walks in the summer, and there are a few social events in the winter. Most Sunday walks are between 12 and 20 kilometres in length. We walk in the surrounding countryside, usually fairly locally but often in the Peak District and have the occasional group weekend away further afield.
 
Non-members and visitors from other groups are always welcome, and non-members are invited to come on three walks before any decision to join the Ramblers Association is needed.

Advice for walkers

Please make sure that you are fit enough to undertake the walk you intend to join. If you're unsure of your fitness level, try a short and easy walk first. it is much better to find a walk a little too slow and easy than to make yourself miserable and exhausted.

Most Ramblers' walks are off road in rural areas. Please have suitable footwear and clothing for the walk you intend to join, and bring some food and drink, even if the walk includes a pub or cafe break. Leaders may refuse to accept participants who in their opinion are inadequately equipped or unfit. When in doubt, contact the walk leader in advance.

For your own and others' safety please abide by any advice and instructions from the walk leader. Though walking is inherently one of the safest outdoor activities, no activity is completely without risk and it is your responsibility to behave sensibly and to minimise the potential for accidents to occur.
