The Aguerd Loop

The following day saw us setting of for the richly varied Aguerd Loop walk.

It starts with a rocky path rising through a rugged side-valley to the Ourika Valley.

The path is substantial but very rocky and boulder-strewn.

It ten opens into a cirque containing rich farming terraces and the prosperous village of Anammer.

Here we look across from Anammer to its neighbour, Aguerd.

We passed through Aguerd and climber the steep path behind it to a good lunch spot.

After lunch we crossed the steep valley to descend on the other flank.

It was a slightly rugged descent.

It did involve crossing a landslip.

(In stable condition)

On the way back we had tea in Anammer, then continued via an open track on a domed hillside to Tizi n-Oucheg.

Where we paused to enjoy the place.

As we left the village, the snow-clad mountains were emerging from the haze.

After a steep rocky descent on small tracks, we reached the main valley road again.

(Attained via an interesting little bridge)

To be crossed one person at a time!

I find certain bridges quite fascinating.

Hotel Amnougour

The Anins Loop

Similarities to the previous route.

A hotter day. Here is Jessica taking a break during the ascent.

We pass through the village of Anins.

And about to leave it for a second time to the West.

The descent, after lunch, involves a long traverse with views down towards our hotel below.

Oukaïmeden

After our drive across to the ski resort of Oukaïmeden, the rain relented for our ascent.

Our target, the col, was cold but snow-free on the paths.

The sun came out a little. We could admire the scenery.

Watch Abdul throw snowballs.

Or just relax in the sunshine.

The descent was through some really bleak villages.

Charming, but hardly nice to have to live in!

Finally we reached the road, had coffee, got in our bus and then drove through cloud, rain and hail all the way back to the hotel for our final night.
