Sat 23 Feb

Today we took the bus towards NE corner of the island and did a long ridge walk to the sea. This walk was the best of the tour with endless entertaining paths on solid rock (after a slightly greasy woodland start).

There were charming villages and sea views.

There were houses built into caves.

With good paths, blue skies, cactus and caves plus sea views this walk had all the ingredients that one might ask for.

Lovely locations.

Blue skies and green plants.

Heights and depths.

Orange overhangs.

Cactus of all sorts.

Great paths.

Exciting little paths over big drops.

Beautiful rest stops.

Cliffs, waves and a handsome Leader.

A splendid final walk for our holiday.

Sun 24 Feb

Our last day. The bus left the hotel at 16:00 and so we had a little time wandering around the town and beach. There are some attractive buildings in the town.

The harbour seems to be mainly for fishermen and their boats, but there are plenty or rod and line fishermen on the quay.

The peak of Tiede forms a fine background to the harbour.

We joined the strollers along the seafront and watched the breaking waves for a while. Then we had a light lunch and then drove to Tenerife Sur for the flight. Very conveniently our flight was 30min after the Luton flight so we were able to go on the same coach as the others.

Our flight was actually ahead of time in reaching East Midland Airport and we were back in our own house by 01:30.
